Technical-Scientific Partnership PROOCEANO & CPTEC/INPE for Operational Oceanography.

Aiming the permanent improvement of its operational metocean forecasts products, PROOCEANO supports a technical-scientific partnership for operational oceanography with the Brazilian Space Research Institute (INPE).

The main goals of this Project are:
▪ Improvement of the computational structure of the INPE-ATLASUL Project;
▪ To develop a synergy strategy to merge its products with those already available at PROOCEANO for environmental monitoring;
▪ To avoid or diminish risks or damages in coastal and offshore areas through the development of specific and customized environmental tools;
▪ Improve the state-of-the-art knowledge in metocean forecasting.

The available information is generated by well-known numerical models such as POM (Princeton Ocean Model), WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting Model) and WAVEWATCH-III, with different spatial and temporal scales, in order to better understand the specific characteristics of each region.
